For the Western Australian Museum exhibition A Cave of Wonders, ericaamerica created an installation alongside an exhibition devoted to singer-songwriter Nick Cave. The resulting environment was described as part church, part museum, and part curiosity show, combining the label’s romantic rogue aesthetic with Cave’s theatrical and gothic cultural world. Rather than presenting clothing as isolated commercial objects, the designers built a total atmosphere in which garments, display architecture, historical references, and the museum’s language of collecting became part of one strange narrative. Critics called it a poetic meeting of the two collaborators’ sensibilities, and the exhibition was reported as both critically and commercially successful. Its unsettling power came from turning fashion into an act of ritualized display: viewers entered a fabricated sanctuary of relics, costumes, and curiosities rather than simply watching models walk.
