In October 1984, near the end of the six-month shoot, The Bride suffered a spectacular set disaster at Shepperton Studios. A fire broke out during the filming of a circus sequence and rapidly engulfed the enormous circus tent, destroying the set. Around 300 cast and crew members were present, but everyone escaped unharmed, turning what could have been a fatal catastrophe into a costly production interruption. The damage still forced the picture to wait roughly five weeks while a replacement tent was constructed. Director Franc Roddam used the unexpected pause to begin editing, but the practical difficulties continued after the rebuild: he had to leave large gaps in the assembly and then track down members of the original crew for an additional week of filming. Roddam later said the fire did not compromise his artistic intentions, but it added another major setback to a production already delayed by Brown's prosthetic-related injuries.

The daily feature is taking an intermission. There’s still an entire archive to explore.
